Monthly Media Round-up: July Edition
With burgers and BBQ on the brain, it seems the whole city went food-crazy this month. Take, for example, Toronto Life’s recent article on the best restos in the east end (warning, do not click if you’re hungry). So many of their editor’s picks were spot on, and we feel a rumble of pride in our bellies to have a special connection to so many of the restaurants named.
Topping the list was Ascari Enoteca, Leslieville’s “grown-up noodle joint.” Congrats to Chef John Sinopoli and Erik Joyal! Did you know John and Eric are also the team behind The Broadview Hotel’s menu, including The Civic, which also made Toronto Life’s list? “It’s impressive how [Sinopoli] translates that past into something temptingly up-to-date” the article states, noting that the elk chops are a must-try.
Our neighbour and partner to Streetcar’s Crowsnest, Gare de L’est, also appeared on the list. This Parisian brassiere is also a Sinopoli/Joyal venture, and has quickly become the perfect destination before the show or for a nightcap.
We’re so proud of our food and beverage partners. They’re in good company, too, with veterans like Queen Margherita Pizza and Goods and Provisions on the list, as well as new kids on the block Lake Inez, White Lily Diner, and Wynona.
If all this talk about food has left your stomach growling and your lips parched, then just wait and see what August is cooking up. We’re looking forward to Leslieville Beer Festival, which is set to close down Dundas Street East from Logan Avenue to Carlaw Avenue on the afternoon August 25th. We also can’t wait to support our neighbours to the north at Taste of the Danforth, August 10th -12th.
