Streetcar Acquires the Gladstone Hotel

There are few structures in Toronto as iconic as The Gladstone Hotel. The West Queen West building’s curb appeal and Romanesque design, coupled with its rich history and thriving arts scene, have long made it both a cultural hub and top tourist attraction.

Streetcar Developments is thrilled to announce we’ve teamed up with DREAM to acquire the Gladstone Hotel!

Constructed in 1889, the Gladstone is Toronto’s oldest continually operating hotel. It is located at 1214 Queen Street. West, at the corner of Gladstone Avenue. The boutique hotel offers 37 unique, artist-designed rooms, and hosts dozens of events and exhibitions each year.

“We have great respect for the West Queen West community and believe the Gladstone Hotel is a unique representation of the neighbourhood’s art, culture and diversity,” Streetcar Developments founder and president, Les Mallins, stated in a press release.

As you may already know, in 2014 we teamed up with DREAM to acquire and restore the Broadview Hotel. The acquisition of The Gladstone underscores Streetcar’s commitment to arts and culture throughout Toronto.
