Streetcar Developments: Official Website

Monthly Media Round-Up: December Edition

And just like that, we bid adieu to 2017. This was a triumphant year for us at Streetcar Developments. We opened The Broadview Hotel, welcomed Streetcar Crowsnest Theatre to their new location at 345 Carlaw Ave, celebrated the opening of Gare de L’Est and won Best Condo Developers in Toronto via NOW Magazine’s Best of T.O. Readers Poll! We are continually thankful for the support and love we receive on a daily basis from this community and city towards these projects and can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring.

Before we take the leap towards the new year, let’s have one last look at all that happened this December:

Earlier this month, The Southwood and The Broadview Hotel were nominated for UrbanToronto’s Year-End Readers’ Poll, Best Buildings of 2017. The poll asked readers, “what are your favourite three buildings completed this year between 15 and 37 metres in height?” We’re proud to say The Southwood was nominated. Readers were also asked, What are your favourite modern/heritage mix projects completed this year?” The Broadview Hotel was nominated in this category. We look forward to hearing the results in the new year!

Continuing the celebration of The Broadview Hotel’s ground-floor restaurant, The Civic, which opened last month, Foodism.to featured a wonderful review of the space and menu. On the new cocktail menu featured in the restaurant, Jessica Huras wrote:

Like the decor, the Civic’s cocktail menu takes a cue from the Broadview Hotel’s history. Drinks like the Uphill Both Ways, a mix of Buffalo Trace bourbon, amaro nonino, cream sherry, amontillado sherry and xocolatl mole bitters, are served at room temperature – the way many cocktails were served during the turn-of-the-century when ice was sometimes difficult to come by.

In addition to the review from Foodism, BlogTO featured The Civic as one of the top 10 new restaurants in Toronto this month.

In December the hotel was featured in an article by Post City Magazine. The article, entitled “How The East was Won”, discussed the balance between the hotel’s rooftop views and eats. You can view the published article in full below.

Finally, this month we saw BlogTO add Gare de L’Est to their list of Best French Restaurants in Toronto! Merci!

Thank you, once again, for a phenomenal 2017, and now onwards to 2018!
