Welcome, The Civic!

There’s a quick beat between summer and the hectic holiday season where everything seems just right in Toronto. The snow hasn’t quite hit, and neither has the realization that Christmas is just a few short weeks away (!) As the weather turns, we know just the place to escape and get all hygge this holiday season.

Introducing The Civic, the main-floor restaurant in The Broadview Hotel. While the hotel’s Rooftop and Cafe + Bar have served up drinks and shared plates since the summer, The Civic rounds out these other spaces and offers a casual fine dining experience.

Just like the hotel itself, The Civic is a blend of historical and contemporary, serving up traditional dishes with a modern twist. It’s an unexpected refresh of our culinary past, led by Chef John Sinopoli and Chef de Cuisine Joey Agostino.

Menu items are reimaginations of Victorian-era dishes, including Cod Croquettes, Duck Confit, and Roasted Heritage Chicken. Don’t worry, vegetarians, there are plenty of options for you, too, including Mushrooms on Toast and a Waldorf Wedge salad with Stilton and spiced walnuts—not to mention plenty of sumptuous sides, like Roasted Heirloom Carrots with caraway cream. View the full menu here.

Set inside the 126-year-old building, you may find yourself transported into the past, especially given the original brick façade and factory glass windows, which were preserved. The space was crafted by The Design Agency, who worked to create a graceful yet glamorous ambience.

The cocktail menu also takes its cue from yesteryear. Diners can choose from classic cocktails to complement their meals served up by Bar Manager Tony DaSilva.

Included in the 100-seat dining room is an area that can be curtained off for private dining events, making The Civic the perfect destination for your holiday get-together. The Civic has already received acclaim from the likes of Toronto Life and Now Magazine, but don’t take their word for it. Visit yourself by making a reservation via Open Table. Welcome to the neighbourhood, The Civic!
