The Southwood Update
Signs of warmer weather are springing. It won’t be long before the city emerges from hibernation and the heat is on. This summer, as you roll about new parts of the city, be sure to check out what we’re building in the Upper Beaches.
The Southwood is Streetcar’s development project unfolding at Kingston Road and Southwood Drive, just a short walk away from the Glen Stewart Ravine and the beach. Find yourself surrounded by a neighbourhood peppered with local flavour, including cafes, restaurants, community centres and the much-anticipated opening of the Big Carrot on the ground-level of 663 Kingston Road. With a walk score of 87, you’ll find there’s no place like home.
The architecture of the two sister sites at 646 and 663 Kingston Road respond to their differing site conditions while adding to the neighbourhoods local vibe. 646 Kingston Road is composed of modern, linear charcoal brick with black-framed windows complimented by off-white metal panels. 663 Kingston Road goes for a lighter look, with beige brick colouring and darker bronze metal panels and frames. In both façades, the metals break down the brick volume to create visual diversity.
