Monthly Media Round-Up: April Edition
The cherry blossoms blooming are always a signal of the new season. Before we delve into the fresh long days of May, it’s time to take a look back on everything that happened in April:
In case you missed it, this month we revealed new details about our much-anticipated east-end project, The Broadview Hotel. In addition to launching the official website , we also hosted a media preview on April 20th at Streetcar’s head office. While the hotel itself won’t soft open until June, we wanted to offer a sneak peek into what’s to come. Attendees were invited to experience the hotel through renderings, samples, and a virtual reality tour. You can read all about it here.
Post-event and VR launch, we received a ton of love from the community. Toronto Guardian, BlogTO, NOW Magazine, GoodHood, inside TORONTO, and Metro Toronto all produced features covering the latest details of the hotel.
Sonya Davidson of Toronto Guardian delves into some of the rich history of the building, sharing the story of its creator, Archibald W. Dingman, “an influential entrepreneur in Alberta’s early oil-drilling industry and a principal in Pugsley, Dingman & CO., a Toronto-based soap manufacturer.” Davidson goes onto note how the building was originally designed as a social club for the neighbourhood before it was converted into a hotel in 1908.
BlogTO’s Derek Flack defined some of the key characters involved with the hotel’s restoration, including Design Agency, and executive Chef John Sinopoli of Ascari Enoteca, Hi Lo, and the soon-to-open Gare d’Est. Sinopoli and his team will be the Broadview’s food and beverage partner. Flack writes, “What emerges most of all from the latest peek at the renovations is that Streetcar and Dream, the co-developers behind the project, have made good on their desire to make this a hub destination.” Thank you so much for these kind words!
NOW Toronto’s Michelle Da Silva is excited about all the amenities and ‘extras’ we’ve added that will help make The Broadview Hotel a unique and boutique experience. She writes about the rooftop patio, cocktail bar, and 80-seat restaurant, The Civic. Metro Toronto’s Andrew Fifield focused on the virtual reality element of our launch, which offers audiences a chance to tour the hotel in VR or 360-video by visiting our website (take a look for yourself here)
As we move closer to The Broadview Hotel’s soft opening this June, we love sharing all the details with you. Now bring on the picnic blankets and cold brew—it’s May!
