Sofar Sounds At Streetcar Studio

In the dead of winter, Streetcar Developments was pleased to host an evening of heartwarming sounds in collaboration with Sofar Sounds at our Streetcar Studio, located at 630 Queen Street East.

In case you haven’t already heard of it, Sofar Sounds is a volunteer-run music organization that puts on intimate, live showcases in over 300 cities. The location changes with each event, and the rotation of artists range from local to touring acts.

Founded by music lovers, Sofar Sounds created a space for those to enjoy live music without the hustle and bustle of live music venues and for artists to perform in a nurturing and appreciative space. In addition to offering an immersive atmosphere, one song from each set is recorded live off the floor and uploaded to their  Youtube channel to be shared and collected with other performances from all over the world.

The evening hosted performances by Turkwaz, Chris Bartos & Emilie Mover, and Begonia. Turkwaz offered a kind of fusion cuisine of sound, blending traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern music to create something beautiful and new.  Chris Bartos & Emilie Mover offered something a little more folk, while Begonia blew us away with lead singer Alexa Dirks’ big sound.

Throughout the evening, guests sipped on craft beer from Collective Arts Brewing while snacking on treats from Table 17 to make for a well-rounded, relaxing Sunday night full of sound. Thanks, Sofar, for a spectacular evening! For more information on Sofar Sounds, how to host your own event, or apply as an artist, check out their website.
