5 Holiday Markets to Check Out

There’s a reason they call this the most wonderful time of the year! The holiday season has arrived, and with it brings a host of events, promotions and merriment. Holiday markets have become an integral part of Toronto’s cheer, and this year there are a number of spots to hit up for all kinds of festivities. From premiering events the city’s beloved staples, here are the top 5 holiday markets to check out this December:

Toronto Christmas Market
We’ll start off with the biggest and most well-known affair: The Toronto Christmas Market is held every year at the Distillery District and sees the already picturesque ‘hood turn into an urban Santa’s village. Twinkle lights are hung across the quaint walkways and alleyways, artisanal wood booths are set up with local vendors, and resident shops and boutiques open their doors for holiday shopping and celebratory dining. The centre of the market features a fully decorated Christmas tree, a caroler’s stage and a ferris wheel to hop onto. This year’s market runs until December 22nd and we highly recommend setting aside some time to check it out.

Holiday Fair in the Square
Jumping on the now trendy European holiday market train, Nathan Phillips will see a holiday market come to its square this year from December 8th-23rd. Organised by Epilepsy Toronto, the iconic space will fill with tents featuring local artists and crafters all with holiday decor and shopping in mind. In addition to staying true to the classic holiday market, Holiday Fair in the Square will also host an ice bar and midway rides. We foresee this new addition to Toronto’s holiday scene becoming a classic.

The One of a Kind Show
This may not by a typical holiday market but for most it’s the kickoff to holiday shopping. Every year the Enercare Centre at Exhibition Place hosts The One of a Kind Show, a juried market that brings together hundreds of crafters, innovators and designers for shopping and exploring. From furniture pieces to hand-knit mittens and toques to baked goods to works of art and everything in between, The One of a Kind Show will not disappoint. On from November 24th-December 4th. Run don’t walk to Exhibition place this weekend!

Toronto Green Market: Holiday Edition
After a successful launch this past summer, The Toronto Green Market is back for another season of its eco-centric market. The event is a hub where local vendors and artisans all create products with a conscious. The market is set to kick off their second event on December 11th with Toronto Green Market: Holiday Edition. 50 hand-picked vendors are set to come together during the one-day event and are ready to delight. The Toronto Green Market: Holiday Edition will be at 087 Queen Street West, admission is free and furry ones are also welcome!

On from December 5th-16th, this indoor market brings the charm and festivities of the larger holiday markets in the city without having to brave the outdoors.
